Steuben LWV Sponsoring Students For ‘Inside Albany’ Trip

Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I – Corning) recently learned that students eager to learn about state government will have the opportunity to shadow their state representative through an innovative program sponsored by the League of Women Voters. The Steuben Chapter of LWV announced that local high school sophomores and juniors can participate in the “Students Inside Albany” program, which includes a three-day visit to Albany, April 10-13, to learn about state government and spend one day shadowing his or her assemblyman or senator.

Applicants interested in participating should contact Linda Ferris, a LWV Steuben member, at 776-7101 or Assemblyman Palmesano’s district office in Bath at 776-9691. Applications must be submitted by March 1. There is no cost to students to participate in the program.

Successful candidates will participate in workshops about lobbying, voters’ rights and other topics related to government, in addition to shadowing a legislator. More information is available by visiting the LWVNY.org website.
