Palmesano, Area Legislators Promote Holiday Drive For The Troops

Thursday, December 10 Deadline

Assemblyman Phil Palmesano (R,C,I-Corning) is letting his friends and neighbors know they can participate in the annual Holiday Drive for the Troops, a cornerstone of area holiday giving. The drive is organized and coordinated by Sen. Mike Nozzolio. The deadline for dropping off goods is the close of business on Thursday, December 10.

“For most of us, the holiday season means enjoying time with close friends and family. For our dedicated servicemen and women overseas, the holidays bring continued danger and sacrifice. Donating is a great way to say ‘thank you.’ Without the contributions of our brave soldiers, we would not enjoy the security and liberty that make the holidays possible,” said Palmesano.

All donated items will be sent to troops deployed overseas during the holidays.

Donations of nonperishable food items are encouraged. Some popular items include hard candy, gum, snacks, instant coffee and dry beverage mixes. Small entertainment and small clothing items also are appreciated.

Items can be dropped off at Palmesano’s district office between 8:30 a.m. and 4:30 p.m. Questions about the holiday drive, including alternative drop-off times, can be directed to the office at (607) 776-9691
