Assemblyman Reilich Urges Annual Mammograms This Mother’s Day
May 6, 2008

Assemblyman Bill Reilich (R,C,I-Greece) has joined with the Adelphi NY Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program in their “Peace of Mind” Campaign to urge women to get mammograms.

“Early detection is the best weapon we have in the fight against cancer,” said Reilich. “I hope that this Mother’s Day will be a day to celebrate mothers and urge them to get a mammogram.”

The hotline has been in existence for 27 years. It is a project of the Adelphi University School of Social Work on Long Island and is funded by the New York State Legislature, Department of Health, grants and contributions. All services are free.

For more information, or to find an accredited mammography facility, call the Adelphi New York Statewide Breast Cancer Hotline and Support Program at 800-877-8077. Callers also can get emotional support from the hotline’s specially trained volunteers, most of whom have had breast cancer. You can also visit www.adelphi.edu./nybreastcancer.

Assemblyman Reilich congratulated Adelphi University for using Mother’s Day as a way to remind women of the dangers of breast cancer and the importance of early detection and diagnosis.
