June 30, 2009
Bill Reilich (R,C,I-Greece) today announced a new safety line available to New York residents by calling extension 511 from any land line or cell phone. The 511 system is free and comprehensive; it offers extensive information such as accident updates, road work, weather and other roadway conditions, all up-to-the-minute for your location. The 511 system also provides information on air, bus line and subway transportation conditions and planning services.
“Upon calling 511, the program will immediately recognize your area, updating you on up-to-the-minute traffic changes, levels of congestion, road work, road closures due to weather and much more, allowing commuters to plan accordingly for smooth travels,” stated Reilich. “This excellent program rivals any other in the country. I have used it myself and believe that it is indispensable for planning trips by any form of transportation. I encourage all New Yorkers to try this new state-of-the-art system, especially as we enter the summer travel season.”
