Reilich Responds To Liquor Authority Report
A legislative statement by Assemblyman Bill Reilich (R,C,I-Greece)
October 2, 2009
Today’s report regarding the delays in the State Liquor Authority comes as little surprise. In a difficult economy such as the one we are faced with today, it is appalling that bureaucratic red tape is preventing businesses from opening their doors. The mismanagement of the State Liquor Authority has needlessly forced taxpayers and small businesses to suffer; yet another example of the dysfunction in state government. As a small-business owner myself, I could never fathom running my business as poorly as the State Liquor Authority does; it would be unconscionable. It is time that government steps up to the plate and begins functioning the way we expect a business to; government should not work against us, it should work for us and the current practices are simply unacceptable.
