Reilich: This Mother’s Day, Your Health Comes First
Assemblyman says early detection is best way to combat breast cancer
May 7, 2012

Assemblyman Bill Reilich (R,C,I-Greece) today joined with the Breast Cancer Coalition of Rochester (BCCR) to promote mammography as an important part of women’s health and awareness to combat breast cancer.

"Early detection is the best method to spot and combat breast cancer, if or when it occurs," says Reilich. "It is understandable that women are nervous about a possible diagnosis. The reality is that the vast majority of women do not have this disease, but not getting an exam certainly puts many mothers and women potentially at risk."

The BCCR’s mission is to provide support to those touched by a diagnosis of breast cancer, to make access to information and care a priority through education and advocacy, and to empower women and men to participate fully in decisions relating to breast cancer. They are made up of a diverse group of breast cancer activists – survivors, volunteers and advocates.

"The BCCR offers a wide range of available programs, from literature and support services to personal one-on-one meetings," said Reilich. "They work to promote women’s health and are here in Monroe County to help women. It’s a potentially life-saving decision – put your health first and schedule a mammogram today."
