Hawley was joined by his family and Assembly Minority Leader Jim Tedisco as he was sworn in by Justice Vito C. Caruso, administrative judge for the 4th Judicial District. Hawley’s wife, Crystal, held the Bible for her husband as Caruso led the new assemblyman in his oath of office.
"The people of Orleans, Genesee, Monroe and Niagara counties have spoken loud and clear – they want a representative that will lower their property tax burden and keep their families safe while improving their quality of life," said Hawley. "I’m honored to have been chosen to represent the 139th Assembly District, and I look forward to serving such a wonderful part of our great state.
"I want residents to know that my door is always open. I love public service and helping my fellow New Yorkers. Now, it’s time to get down to business by passing a balanced and on-time budget, stronger public safety laws and comprehensive legislation to reduce our state’s property tax burden."
