Memorial Day: A Time To Remember Our Fallen Heroes

On this Memorial Day – Monday, May 28 – I encourage all Americans to take a moment to join me in remembering the men and women who paid the ultimate price in service of this great nation. These heroes, who went above and beyond the call of duty, helped shape America into what it is today.

Memorial Day is an important time for us to reflect upon the courage and sacrifice shown by these great heroes. We must also recognize that we should pay respects to our fallen service men and women everyday, as it is their sacrifice that allows us to enjoy the freedoms we have in America.

Today, we are at war overseas. In Iraq, Afghanistan and other parts of the world, this country has seen the loss of its sons and daughters. While words alone cannot bring them back to their families and loved ones, we should do all we can to preserve their memory and ensure that their sacrifices will never be forgotten.

As a veteran, I hold a special place in my heart for our brave military personnel. With their bravery and selfless commitment, our country is kept safe from those whose mission it is to harm us. The people of Western New York and all across the United States are forever indebted to the great sacrifice and honorable service exhibited by our fallen heroes.

We need to ensure our service men and women are recognized for their commitment to this country and strength in defending the American way of life. On this Memorial Day, join me in remembering the sacrifices made by so many that have helped make our nation the strongest country in the world. We must never forget what any of these brave souls have given to keep America free.
