Hawley Appointed Minority Ranker of Veterans’ Affairs Committee

Joins Assembly Minority Leadership, New Committees

Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R, I, C – Batavia) has been appointed as the Ranking Minority Member of the Assembly Veterans’ Affairs Committee. Additionally, the Assemblyman has also accepted the invitation to join the Assembly Minority Leadership, now serving as the Vice Chair of Program Committee for the conference.

“Especially in both of these new capacities, as well as with my other committee and task force appointments, I will be better armed to serve the people of Western New York and help advance the concerns of our community and ensure that we are better represented in Albany,” said Hawley, who is also now serving on the Insurance Committee as well as the Tourism Committee.

Assemblyman Hawley is also maintaining his membership on the committees of Agriculture, Racing and Wagering, and Rules – the committee through which all legislation passes before coming to a vote.

As a former family farmer and currently an insurance business owner, Hawley has extensive experience to add to both the Agriculture and Insurance committees. Hawley plans to use his position on these committees to help move legislation that will help sustain farming, cut insurance red tape, and lower costs for all businesses, particularly in Western New York. Additionally, after having helped to deliver a new New York Racing Association agreement that helps Batavia Downs, Hawley’s continued involvement on the Racing and Wagering Committee will help protect this large Western New York employer and the economic development the Downs brings to our Western New York community.
