Hawley Supports Program To Fight Price Gouging

Assemblyman highlights new gasoline rate reporting system

Assemblyman Steve Hawley (R,I,C-Batavia) is highlighting a state program allowing New Yorkers to report potential cases of gasoline price gouging. The Department of State's Division of Consumer Protection program provides a hotline and online form for reporting such cases.

“Our hardworking families need and deserve cost relief at the gas pump,” said Hawley. “In response to widespread local concern on the issue, I urged the attorney general to investigate the problem, and I’m glad to see the state taking real steps to get to the bottom of this issue. It is my hope that with these new tools we can work together to bring financial relief to Western New York's drivers."

National gas prices have risen 34 cents since January. In addition to offering consumers the ability to report unusual increases in gas prices, the website offers useful tips to help consumers save money at the pump.
