Assemblymember Gabryszak: NYPA to Disclose Financial Reports to Increase Transparency and Accountability
February 7, 2012
Assemblymember Dennis Gabryszak (D-Cheektowaga) announced the Assembly passed a bill he authored that would require the New York Power Authority to file a detailed annual financial report with the state comptroller, chairman of assembly ways and means, senate finance committee and the governor (A.4250-A).
“By requiring the New York Power Authority to file annual financial reports, it will help increase transparency and bring more accountability to their operations, bringing full disclosure to hardworking taxpayers” Assemblyman Gabryszak said. “Gas and electric corporations are required to give annual reports to shareholders – NYPA should be held to these same standards.”
Currently, the New York Power Authority is not required to fully disclose all of their financial information. This bill would ensure that the authority complies with the uniform system of accounts required for electric corporations.
