Ban on Synthetic Marijuana Passes Assembly
May 23, 2012

Assemblymember Dennis Gabryszak (D-Cheektowaga) announced the passage of legislation in the Assembly that would completely ban the sale and distribution of synthetic marijuana (A.9855-A).

“I applaud my colleagues in the legislature for recognizing the need to restrict the sale of products containing synthetic marijuana,” Assemblymember Gabryszak said. “We need to do everything in our power to keep these dangerous drugs out of our kids’ hands.

“These unsafe products are designed to mimic the effects of an illegal drug,” Assemblymember Gabryszak said. “We should be concerned about the control and regulation of any mind-altering substance, especially substances that are easily accessible. With this ban, it will be illegal for anyone to gain access to the synthetic cannabinoids which have caused a number of health emergencies.”
