Teaching Civics To Hewitt Middle School Students

April 3, 2012

Assemblyman Brian Curran (Lynbrook-14th AD) had the pleasure of giving a civics lesson on local government today to Mrs. Jay’s fifth grade class, as well as Ms. DiBrita’s, Ms. Nicotra’s and Ms. Shuldman’s third grade classes.

“I have made it a goal to visit schools in the district; the students and teachers are wonderful and always receptive. It is very important to educate our students about the importance of local government and the positive changes a person can make in their community,” Curran said.

Assemblyman Curran successfully represented Rockville Centre in Albany, finalizing the 2012-13 New York State budget. The school district of Rockville Centre will be receiving an increase in state school aid of $198,646 for this fiscal year.
