Lavine Interns Consider State of County Affairs
September 21, 2009

Pictured are interns David Schreiber (Glen Head); Ben Rose (Plainview); State Assemblyman Charles Lavine (D-Glen Cove); Presiding Officer Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove); and interns Alex Romano (Sea Cliff); and Marc Rosen (Glen Cove).
Before convening the August 10 session of the Nassau County Legislature, Presiding Officer Diane Yatauro (D-Glen Cove) welcomed fellow elected official NYS Assemblyman Charles Lavine (D-Glen Cove) and his staff.
Presiding Officer Yatauro also had the opportunity to meet the interns who worked in the Assemblyman’s office throughout the summer season. The interns stayed for the legislative session to witness government at work.
Session considered an extensive calendar which included points of personal privilege (during which residents and, in this case, a member of the Police K-9 Unit were recognized for outstanding service to community); a public hearing on the proposed “Calorie Notification” bill; a vote on the new "Silver Alert” law to protect Alzheimer’s patients; and solid political debate on issues facing Nassau County.
