Lavine Offers Warm Thanks for Warm Coats

January 15, 2010

Assemblyman Charles Lavine would like to sincerely thank all his neighbors who looked into their hearts and closets and donated to the recent Coats for Kids project through his Glen Cove district office. Coordinated coat drives were organized by students from Gribbin School, Glen Cove High School Key Clubbers, North Shore Middle School students led by Stephanie Cuomo, students from St. Brigid’s-Our Lady of Hope in Westbury and the Jericho Retired Teachers Association.

Additionally, Assemblyman Lavine would like to thank all the individuals who dropped coats, jackets, ski pants, sweaters, hats and gloves into the collection box. In all, the office collected more than 700 winter items, which will go a long way toward keeping all our children warm this winter.

The donated coats were brought to Randi’s Cleaners in Mineola where they were cleaned and picked up by various agencies to be distributed to children in need. This annual program is sponsored by the National Cleaners Association; Assemblyman Lavine has participated in partnership with Randi’s Cleaners since taking office in 2005.

Assemblyman Lavine said, “While these are difficult times for everyone, those who take a moment to ‘count their blessings’ and consider neighbors in need exemplify the true spirit of this holiday season. Again, thank you to all and good wishes for a joyous and healthy 2010.”
