Assemblyman Lavine: Statement Regarding Arizona Shooting

Glen Cove – Every American of good faith is heartbroken by the murders and attempted murders of our fellow citizens in Arizona. Let us grieve together for those we have lost and for those whose lives will be forever scarred.

This is a truly painful event for our nation. While the voices of hate may be protected by our constitutional right to free speech, their words are not without consequence. Let us remember that more than a hundred years ago, John Morley wrote that “You have not converted a man because you have silenced him.” And let us pray for the victims, their families and for our nation.
