Friend Welcomes West Point Cadets
April 7, 2011
Assemblyman Christopher Friend (R- Big Flats) today welcomed cadets from the United States Military Academy at West Point. The cadets were in attendance as part of the Assembly’s West Point Day that honors the young men and women who dedicate themselves to service. The cadets were from across New York State and they all earned their way to West Point through their diligence, intelligence, and leadership.
“It was a pleasure to take time to honor such a great group of young people who have committed themselves to serving our nation,” said Friend. “The West Point motto is ‘Duty, Honor, Country’ and you could not find a better set of people to represent those words than this group of cadets. Throughout our nation’s history, a litany of great leaders have walked the halls of the U.S. Military Academy and donned the uniform of a West Point Cadet. If the young men and women that I met here today are the leaders of tomorrow, I feel a great deal of comfort for myself, my family, and my country. Being around these cadets, it is easy to see why the United State Military is the finest military ever assembled.”
