Peoples’ 3rd Annual ‘Parent Power’ Conference

Empowering our Parents and Children
September 3, 2007
Please join us at the 3rd Annual Parent Power Conference and breakfast on Sunday, September 15, 2007 from 9:00 a.m. – 11:30 a.m. presented by Assemblymember Crystal D. Peoples (141st A.D.) and Ellicott District Councilmember Brian C. Davis.

The conference entitled, “Parenting on Purpose: Integrating Learning Opportunities at Home” will be held at the Pratt Willert Community Center, located at 422 Pratt Street. Jonathan Holifield, CEO of the Buffalo Olmsted Parks will be delivering the keynote address focusing on integrating education and communication amongst students, schools and parents. Contrary to last year’s conference, “Partnering for the Best Educational Opportunities”, this year’s conference encourages parents to reinforce the benefits of education and continue the learning process at home through interactive discussions, activities, research and homework review.

Community organizations are invited to share information on tutoring assistance, SAT preparation programs, financial aid and other pertinent resources with participating students and parents at our vendor tables. “This is a great opportunity for parents, school administrators and elected officials to collaborate on the various resources available to support Buffalo’s children and reinforce the value of a quality education. We have to take a pro-active approach towards our children’s education; it can not be left up to others” Assemblymember Peoples stated.
