DiPietro: Honoring Our Fallen Heroes

Assemblyman David DiPietro (R,C,I-East Aurora) recently honored one of our nation’s finest who fell in the line of duty by memorializing a bridge in his honor this past Sunday, September 15. Sgt. Brian K. Baker was a serviceman in Iraq who fell heroically protecting the Bagdad Airport at the age of 27. DiPietro honored Sgt. Baker as part of his Commemorate our Hometown Heroes Veterans Bridges and Roads Program, which seeks to name local bridges and roads after fallen military members from their communities.

“It was a singular honor to have met Sgt. Baker’s family and friends as we commemorated this bridge,” DiPietro said. “I am proud that his memory will always live on in this community and that all who live here will remember his brave sacrifice and others like him who gave their lives in service to our country. We will never forget Brian or any of his fellow heroes.”
