Queens, New York – Assemblyman David Weprin, Steering Committee member of New York Legislators for Gun Violence Prevention, issued the following statement on the attack in Las Vegas:

“My thoughts and prayers are with the victims and families of the Las Vegas shooting, the worst mass shooting in American history. As a Steering Committee member of New York Legislators for Gun Violence Prevention; I strongly believe that we must take action to limit the use of these deadly weapons now before they are further used to kill and injure more innocent Americans. These fully automatic weapons have no purpose in our community or country; they place our first responders in harm’s way and serve to divide us in the most horrific way possible. As such, I call on the President and Congress to unite and pass legislation to protect our communities from this terrible violence.”
