Running For The History Books

Assemblyman joins Franklin Square Historical Society for 5K Run/Walk

Assemblyman Ed Ra (21st Assembly District) recently joined the Franklin Square Historical Society for their Second Annual 5K Run/Walk to support the construction of the new Franklin Square Museum. The run, which was held at Rath Park, benefited the Franklin Square Historical Society Museum Fund and the ongoing construction project.

“The volunteers at the Franklin Square Historical Society do an outstanding job in their efforts to preserve the wealth of history here in our community,” said Ra. “I also want to thank not only the competitors, but all the volunteers and staff from the Historical Society who helped make the day so special. History is an invaluable resource as we pass down traditions from one generation to the next. I look forward to joining Paul van Wie, President of the Historical Society, for the opening of the Franklin Square Museum and will continue to do all I can to support the society in their future endeavors.”

The Franklin Square Historical Society recently published a book containing the history of the town of Franklin Square. For more information regarding the Historical Society, the book, or the run, residents can visit their Web site.
