Ra, Colleagues Beat the State Budget Buzzer to Restore Critical Funding for Veterans

A statement by Assemblyman Ed Ra (R-Franklin Square)

“Heading into the last budget bill last night, millions of dollars in proposed cuts to important veterans counseling and legal services programs had yet to be restored. My colleagues and I didn’t give up. We repeatedly raised the issue during floor debate, during committee meetings and in private negotiations with our colleagues on the other side of the aisle. I’m glad we kept at it. The remaining funds were restored in the final bill we passed on the floor last night at around 3:00 a.m. It is perhaps the first known instance of something good happening after midnight in the Capitol. I want to thank my colleagues in the Majority for working across the aisle with us to make this happen,’ said Ra.
