Assemblyman Jeffrey Dinowitz has requested DEP to address a safety and environmental issue on Henry Hudson Parkway. Black smoke emanates from 4499 Henry Hudson Parkway’s chimney. Despite numerous attempts by residents, this issue still exists.

In a letter to New York City DEP Commissioner Emily Lloyd, Assemblyman Dinowitz stated, “Residents in the community have witnessed hazardous smoke emissions emanating from the chimney of 4499 Henry Hudson Parkway. Past violations have been issued to the owner of the premises and the Fire Department has been called on several occasions.

Many attempts have been made to resolve this issue. Several residents of 4525 Henry Hudson Parkway have contacted 311. These residents see the smoke because their building is a taller property and one side of it has a direct view of the roof of 4499 Henry Hudson Parkway.

This is a serious safety and environmental problem that persists. Based on the number complaints, I am requesting that DEP conduct a thorough inspection to determine if said emissions are hazardous and to ensure that the proper steps are taken to remedy the situation.”

Assemblyman Dinowitz said, “Many constituents have contacted the City to no avail. This is a serious environmental issue. We cannot allow black smoke to be spewed into the air we breathe. I expect that DEP will resolve this matter.”
