Assemblywoman Buttenschon: We Can Never Forget the Courage of 9/11 First Responders

Assemblywoman Marianne Buttenschon (D-Utica/Rome) announced that a resolution she co-sponsored urging New York State’s congressional delegation to permanently authorize the Sept. 11th Victim Compensation Fund Act passed the Assembly (K.442).

“The bravery exhibited by the men and women who responded to the attacks on 9/11 to protect our state and nation is truly unmatched and must never be forgotten,” said Buttenschon. “We owe these honorable individuals a great debt, which is why I’m pushing the federal government to ensure that our heroes continue to receive the care they deserve.”

The September 11th Victim Compensation Fund (VCF) provides compensation for any individual who was harmed or developed health problems as a result of the terrorist attacks on Sept. 11, 2001, or the debris removal efforts that took place in the immediate aftermath. The resolution will help ensure all first responders and survivors of the 9/11 attacks continue receiving compensation for health problems related to the tragedy.
