Pheffer Amato to Host Emergency Preparedness Forum

Far Rockaway, Queens- State Assemblywoman Stacey Pheffer Amato (D-Far Rockaway) today announced in conjunction with Achiezer, NYC Office of Emergency Management, and the Fire Department of New York, will be hosting an Emergency Preparedness Forum at the Torah Academy for Girls (444 Beach 6th Street, Far Rockaway, Queens), from 6:30-8:00 PM, on Wednesday October 10th.

"Part of life on this beautiful Peninsula is knowing how to evacuate at a moment's notice. We saw some of the worst Mother Nature’s ever thrown at us in 2012, and we're still recovering years later. I appreciate Achiezer, OEM, and FDNY for their hard work in bringing this information to the community! Pheffer Amato said. “The best thing we can do is to plan and prepare appropriately. I encourage everyone to Know Your Zone, to study and use their evacuation routes, and to take advantage of these great organizations’ resources so that you and your family are protected."

Partipcants will be advised on how to properly prepare for any disaster including developing a family emergency plan and stocking up on emergency supplies along with what to do in the event of a power outage, idenifying their zone for preparedness, and general fire safety tips. Emergency “Go Bags will be raffled off.
