Assemblyman Colton is Proud to Announce That Governor Cuomo Signed Bill A3366-A which He had Introduced in the Assembly

Assemblyman Colton (D – Gravesend, Bensonhurst, Bath Beach, and Dyker Heights) introduced a bill A03366-A in the Assembly, same as S06243 in the Senate, which requires the Commissioner of Motor Vehicles to publish on the Department of Motor Vehicle's website information to assist persons in determining whether a safety recall has been issued on motor vehicles and related equipment, child safety seats or tires, passed the Assembly and State Senate and was signed into law by the Governor. This act will take effect in one year when it will become a law.

“I am very pleased that Governor Cuomo has signed this bill. Recalls pose a major threat to road-way safety and a threat to the people who drive these vehicles or those near the vehicle in question, such as pedestrians and other drivers and I believe that this information must be displayed to the consumers,” Colton stated.

“By putting this information on the DMV website, it will increase motor vehicle registrants' awareness of recalls and provide useful information for the consumers by which they can determine whether their vehicles are subject to a recall. A greater number of vehicles can be repaired in advance and be safe for all those who use the public roads,” Colton added.
