Assemblyman Colton Receives Legislative Champion Award for Supporting Organ Donations at United Chinese Association of Brooklyn's Annual Wellness Fair

Assemblyman William Colton (D-Bath Beach, Bensonhurst, Gravesend, Dyker Heights) co-sponsored and attended the United Chinese Association of Brooklyn’s annual Wellness Fair and Family Day at Seth Low Park. He and his staff spent the beautiful Sunday afternoon talking to constituents and sponsors promoting health and wellness.

The Assemblyman received the “Legislative Champion” award from LiveOnNY in recognition of his leadership in co-sponsoring legislation in support of lifesaving organ donation and for passing the New York Anatomical Gift Law. Legislation in which he co-sponsored are “New York State Living Donor Support Act” (A01129), “Tax Deduction for Donors” (A02948), “Human Organ Delivery Vehicles as Authorized Emergency Vehicles (A03690), as well as “Recommendation of Donation Education in High Schools” (A03575) to help increase awareness of organ and tissue donations to help save the lives of those in need. LiveOnNY is a nonprofit organization committed to helping New Yorkers live on through organ and tissue donation and to caring for the families touched by donation. They serve as the federally designated organ procurement organization (OPO) for the Greater New York City area.
