Speaker Carl Heastie today continued his annual statewide tour, joining Assemblymember Steve Stern at the Dolan Family Health Center in Huntington Station, Long Island to announce a $1 million investment in a new state-of-the-art health center that will be more centrally located and better meet the needs of the community.
“Every year this statewide tour allows me to see firsthand the investments the Assembly has made and the real impacts they have on these communities,” said Speaker Heastie. “Assemblymember Stern is a fierce advocate for his constituents, and I am proud to be here today to join him in announcing this new investment and support his efforts to revitalize Huntington Station.”
“The Dolan Family Health Center provides much needed health care services to underserved residents of the Huntington community,” Assemblymember Stern said. “Continuity of care is stressed, including maternal health, pediatrics and specialty care that is often out of reach for residents. This critical funding will enable the Dolan Center to expand its services, re-locate to a central location that is accessible for those without cars, and substantially impact the revitalization of Huntington Station. I thank Speaker Heastie for his unwavering dedication to our community and thank Northwell Health, the Dolan Center and our local community advocates who work so hard to ensure its success.”
Currently, Northwell Health operates a family health center in Huntington Station, an economically distressed community with a historically underserved population that is undergoing a major revitalization effort. The current health center is quickly becoming outdated and insufficient to support the needs of the local community. The Assembly’s $1 million investment will assist Northwell in constructing a new state-of the art center that is more centrally located in the heart of Huntington Station with much easier access to public transportation.
