Speaker Heastie Continues Annual Statewide Tour with Assemblymember Kwani B. O'Pharrow, Announcing $1.1 million for Wyandanch Park
Speaker Carl Heastie continued his annual statewide tour today with Assemblymember Kwani B. O’Pharrow to visit Wyandanch Park, a vibrant, community-centered park in Suffolk County. Together they announced $1.1 million for the Town of Babylon to complete field renovations at the park.
“Greenspaces and parks and playgrounds are vital to our neighborhoods and our families,” said Speaker Heastie. “I want to thank Assemblymember O’Pharrow for inviting me to visit Wyandanch Park today and see all the great ways it supports the community here from families to sports teams and folks looking to spend some time outside.”
“Wyandanch Park is an integral part of the community here, and I’m so glad to have Speaker Heastie here with us today to see it,” Assemblymember O’Pharrow said. “This park is home to sports teams and playgrounds, and is a greenspace where families and friends and neighbors can come together outside.”
Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember O’Pharrow toured Wyandanch Park, announcing $1.1 million to allow the Town of Babylon to renovate and update playing fields. The park features venues for football, junior baseball, basketball, handball and tennis, as well as a playground, picnic areas, on-site restrooms and free Wi-Fi. The park serves local sports teams as well as families and individuals from the community.
