Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Romero Announce $1.25 Million for the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute
Speaker Carl Heastie today continued his annual tour in Albany where he visited the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute with Assemblymember Gabriella A. Romero announcing $1 million to renovate and update the facility.
“The Frank Chapman Memorial Institute does incredible work building a community here in Albany for people of all ages,” Speaker Heastie said. “I’m happy to be here today with Assemblymember Romero, Norma Chapman and the staff and volunteers to see the way they uplift the community, providing a place for kids to learn and grow and for seniors to spend time together.”
“It’s great to have Speaker Heastie here with us today at the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute,” Assemblymember Romero said. “The Chapman Institute has created a safe space for families and individuals here in Albany’s West Hills neighborhood, offering incredible resources such as computer lab and library access to an under-resourced community. Thank you to Norma Chapman and the rest of the Chapman Institute for showing us around today.”
Speaker Heastie and Assemblymember Romero together toured the Frank Chapman Memorial Institute with founder Norma Chapman. The institute is dedicated to improving the lives of those in need and providing a safe space for people of all ages in Albany. An additional $250,000 was announced to help fund the wide variety of programing for families, including Hood’s House of Hoops, after school enrichment for children, Senior lunches and many other programs.
