Carpet
The original color of the Chamber carpet was in stark contrast to the shade of green used in
recent years. Eidlitz envisioned a bold, red carpet to complement the hues and tones provided
by the room’s resplendent decor. The carpet was a clear statement intended to create a
specific atmosphere.
Months of painstaking research into the color and design of the original carpet has produced the
historically accurate replica that now covers the entire Chamber floor. Restoring the carpet fulfills
the original visual concept conceived for the “People’s House.”
