Assemblyman Bill Jones, Chair of the Subcommittee on Agriculture Economic Development and Farmland Protection, questions Commissioner of the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets, Richard A. Ball, about programs to assist farmers in receiving broadband connectivity saying, "Whenever I visit a business two of their top priorities are employment and infrastructure, meaning broadband infrastructure. Are there any specialized programs that farmers, that agriculture people can apply for relating to broadband… Are there any specific state broadband initiatives out there right now to help our farmers get connected to the 21st economy?" during the public hearing to examine the oversight of the SFY 2017-2018 State Budget for the New York State Department of Agriculture and Markets. PUBLIC HEARING NOTICE
