Assemblywoman Woerner Working to Lower Gas Prices

Good afternoon,

Over the last week, I have heard from many constituents with concerns about rising gas prices.I am certain all of you, as I have, experienced the pocketbook effects of gas prices that seem to go up every day and are now at levels that we haven't seen before. That is why I am co-sponsoring legislation in the New York State Assembly, A.9503, that would suspend the imposition of New York State taxes on gasoline for one year to alleviate the burden on New Yorkers during this extraordinary time. The inflationary pressure of lingering supply chain issues and the likely effects of our response to Russia’s invasion of Ukraine impact us every day as we go to school, work, and the activities of daily life. The Federal dollars that the state has received for pandemic relief can be put to good use to reduce the price of gas for New Yorkers.

I will be working to see this included in the final budget that will be voted on by the end of March.

If you would like to speak about this or any other legislative topics, please feel free to reach out to my office and set up a time for us to talk.

Best regards,

Carrie
