Assemblywoman Carrie Woerner: State Budget Unveils Charging Power Capacity Initiative for EV Infrastructure
“This state budget introduces a groundbreaking charging Power Capacity plan aimed at assessing the current and future requirements for electric vehicle (EV) charging infrastructure. This is a pragmatic approach that lays the groundwork for pinpointing areas where additional power transmission, generation, and storage are necessary to fulfill our zero-emission objectives.
“You can't manage what you can't measure. That is why I applaud the inclusion of capacity transmission planning in this initiative. Our ability to realize our zero-emission targets and transition to electrification hinges on effectively balancing supply and demand. A comprehensive, state-wide transmission plan, inclusive of highway corridors, freight corridors, and school bus garages, is essential for understanding our capacity needs, responsibly plan for growth in transmission and storage infrastructure, and will help address concerns regarding land use.”
