Assemblymember Woerner Gathered Constituent Feedback, Discussed Legislative Priorities During Community Open Houses
Last week, Assemblymember Carrie Woerner (D-Round Lake) hosted a series of community houses across the 113th Assembly District to discuss her legislative priorities and hear from constituents. Held in Fort Edward, Saratoga Springs, and Greenwich on February 17th through 19th, the open houses provided a space for constituents to share their suggestions and concerns, provide feedback about Woerner's legislative efforts so far, and ask questions about issues important to themselves, their families, and their communities.
Assemblymember Woerner discussed legislation she has introduced since the start of the legislative session last month, including A2271-A to permanently repeal the Gap Elimination Adjustment and restore funding to school districts, A4960 to incentivize establishment of grocery stores in rural settings and increase availability of fresh and affordable food to rural community members, and A5079 to establish a dedicated and dependable funding stream for the Historic Hudson-Hoosic Rivers Partnership, which protects and restores land in both Saratoga and Washington Counties.
Other issues discussed with constituents include: job creation, property tax rates, infrastructure, single-payer health care, municipality consolidation, fresh food availability, public education funding and reforms, pollution remediation, BOCES Career and Technical Education (CTE) training, the Scaffold Law, ethics reform, workers' compensation, upstate revitalization, women's health, early and absentee voting, public financing of campaigns, funding for non-profit organization, the Adoptee Bill of Rights, county and state banks, and the proposed Executive Budget.
Assemblymember Woerner will continue to host community open houses periodically, and invites constituents to call 518-455-5404 or 518-584-5493 to schedule visits at her Albany and Saratoga Springs offices.
