Tague Speaks On NYS Dec Ordering Review of Ashokan Reservoir Water Releases By NYC Dep
A Statement by Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I-Schoharie)
“I am incredibly pleased with news that the New York State Department of Environmental Conservation is ordering the New York City Department of Environmental Protection to release a Supplemental Draft Environmental Impact Statement addressing the impact of muddy water releases from the Ashokan Reservoir to the drinking water supplies of downstream Hudson River communities. The preservation of the beautiful nature that surrounds us in upstate New York, the well-being of local wildlife and cleanliness of the many waterways surrounding our towns, villages and cities cannot be sacrificed for the sake of downstate New Yorkers. I remain committed to ensuring the city answers to the concerns our residents have about the effects of water releases from the Ashokan Reservoir.”
