“Our state constitution makes clear that only citizens of our state should choose their leaders, so I am relieved that this decision asserts our constitution above the desires of special interests and political parties,” said Assemblyman Chris Tague (R,C,I-Schoharie). “New Yorkers deserve fair elections that follow our laws. Opening the floodgates for non-citizens to vote in the city’s elections would have made them both chaotic and unconstitutional in nature.”
