$100 Million for Public Campaign Finance but no Money to Fight Covid-19

A statement by Assemblyman Christopher Tague (R, C, I - Schoharie) on public campaign finance

“I’ve been extremely outspoken about public campaign finance from the very beginning, but for the Majority politicians to wedge it into the budget during a time we’re fighting back a deadly virus is simply malicious. This goes beyond a broach of American values and is an attack on the sanctity of our elections. Honestly, do you want your tax dollars going to support campaigns of people you ideologically oppose? That will be chosen by government? Our elections are about one thing, your individual voice. This goes against the very basic principle of what having elections is about. Not to mention it’s siphoning funds away from a fight for the very lives of our citizens. This is as dangerous as it is irresponsible.”
