Friend: DiNapoli Report Shows ‘No Tangible Benefit’ To Advertising START-UP NY
A statement by Assemblyman Christopher S. Friend (R,C,I-Big Flats)
“According to a report released today by New York State Comptroller Thomas DiNapoli, the marketing campaign on behalf of START-UP NY has had ‘no tangible benefit.’ It appears that the only thing less successful than START-UP NY has been the marketing campaign promoting it. Our state cannot afford to continue to spend money hand-over-fist for no tangible benefit. Businesses won’t be tricked into coming into the state based on a focus group-tested name. What we need to do to repair our state’s economy, and the economy of the Southern Tier, is to drastically cut taxes and alleviate the regulatory burden that Albany has placed on our small-business community. Instead of picking winners and losers, Albany should be ensuring more winners by improving the economic climate in which businesses are competing.”
