Friend Applauds Gov. Cuomo’s Commitment To Direct Care Workers
A statement by Assemblyman Christopher S. Friend (R,C,I,Ref-Big Flats)
March 28, 2017
“At today’s #bFair2DirectCare rally, Governor Cuomo committed an additional $10 million toward raising the wages of direct care workers, and a 6.5 percent increase over the next two years. Our direct care workers, and all the staff at these facilities, work hard to keep our families together, and provide care and support to our most vulnerable. I’m glad the state is doing its part to correct the unintended consequence increasing the minimum wage would have on these government supported programs. When it is fully implemented, an additional $6 billion will be needed to fully support our health care workers to meet the new minimum wage requirements passed last year.”
