Norber Pushes for Increased Funding to Support Animal Shelters
Assemblyman Norber signs letter in support of two animal welfare initiatives.
Assemblyman Daniel Norber (R,C-Great Neck) expressed his strong support for two crucial animal welfare initiatives to be included in this year’s state budget. The first initiative calls for an additional $5 million appropriation to the Companion Animal Capital Fund, bringing total funding to $10 million. The second initiative seeks the establishment of a $2.5 million Animal Crimes Fund to help shelters cover the significant costs of caring for animals involved in criminal cases.
“Shelters across our state are often the last line of defense for abused or neglected homeless animals. It is so important we provide them with the resources they need to care for these animals so they can continue their work in our communities. I am committed to seeing that these initiatives are fully funded and that New York continues to protect animals and the organizations dedicated to their care,” said Norber.
The Companion Animal Capital Fund supports shelters and rescues in addressing their capital needs, while the Animal Crimes Fund will help alleviate the financial strain shelters face when caring for animals seized as evidence in criminal cases. Norber is committed to advocating for these initiatives to ensure New York’s shelters can continue their lifesaving work.
