Norber Presents Proclamation to United States Merchant Marine Academy
Assemblyman Daniel Norber (R,C-Great Neck) recently presented an official Assembly proclamation to the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA) to recognize its success in a blood drive held in conjunction with New York Blood Center (NYBC). The USMMA was able to donate 10,000 pints of blood. This is in addition to the Manhasset Fire Department blood drive, which received 43 pints of blood donations.
“It was my great honor to recognize the amazing and selfless work of the USMMA. Donating 10,000 pints of blood is no small feat, and everyone who donated should be proud of the lifesaving work they accomplished. The Midshipmen of the USMMA are all stand-up individuals and continue to show again and again just how dedicated they are to serving their community. I encourage anyone who is able to consider donating blood and help save lives. Again, I want to say congratulations to the USMMA and the NYBC for their great work,” said Norber.
"It's been an honor and a privilege to partner with the United States Merchant Marine Academy over the last 25 years," said Jeannie Mascolino, Vice President at New York Blood Center. "More than 10,000 lifesaving donations have been collected through this partnership, potentially impacting more than 30,000 patients in need. We were honored to join Legislator Mazi Pilip, New York State Assemblyman Daniel Norber, Councilmember Christine Liu and Wazma Hassan, representing Congressman Tom Suozzi’s Office, in extending our deepest thanks and saluting their outstanding efforts."
