Smith Calls for End to Disaster Emergency Executive Order

Assemblyman Doug Smith (R,C,I-Holbrook) joined his fellow Minority Colleagues today, calling for a repeal of the executive order that declared a disaster emergency in New York following the COVID-19 pandemic spread. Executive Order 202 has been an instrument of domination the governor has used to totally control state operations, according to Smith. Repealing it would be the final step in returning life in New York to complete pre-pandemic operations.

“The governor has been using these last few months to hold onto whatever total control he can in the midst of scandals and problems, but the time has come to return to normal operations,” Smith said. “The emergency order that could have been justified as necessary in March 2020 is clearly outdated today. With positive COVID cases and hospitalizations down, I will join my colleagues in doing whatever is necessary to ensure life returns to normal.”
