Angelino Reacts to State 2025 Energy Plan

Assemblyman Joseph Angelino (R,C-Norwich) is reacting to New York’s adopted 2025 Energy Plan. He is expressing cautious optimism about the plan, approved by the New York State Energy Planning Board, which calls for an all-of-the-above approach, including natural gas when it comes to energy and admits the goals of the Climate Leadership and Community Protection Act (CLCPA) may not be feasible.

“I am pleased that the state is finally admitting the CLCPA and its goals are untenable for New York. My Minority colleagues and I have been saying for years now that it was unaffordable and unrealistic, and that an all-of-the-above approach was needed. Majority lawmakers knew this as well, but still decided to march ahead with this plan, with no regard for New Yorkers; all they cared about was appeasing their far-left progressive base. The current pace at which we were transitioning to fully electric had no regard for reliability, feasibility or affordability. Now armed with the admission from the state that the CLCPA is hopelessly flawed, I urge my Majority colleagues in the Legislature to take note of this plan and make substantial changes to current energy policy, including repealing the CLCPA, or this plan will be nothing more than another empty promise from Albany,” said Angelino.
