DeStefano Sworn in to State Assembly
Today, Assemblyman Joseph DeStefano (R,C, I, Ref-Medford) was sworn-in as a new member of the New York State Assembly. DeStefano will represent the 3rd Assembly District, which includes parts of Suffolk County, including Medford and Mastic Beach. The ceremony, administered by Hon. Kevin J. Engel, was held this afternoon in the Legislative Office Building in Albany.
I am honored and excited to be working with my colleagues at the state and local level to pass legislation that will help lower our taxes, restore ethics in Albany and make New York a better and more affordable place to live, said DeStefano. Serving the people of Long Island is a great privilege, and I look forward to focusing all of my energy on meeting their needs and expectations.
DeStefano was appointed by Assembly Minority Leader Brian M. Kolb as the ranking minority member of the Committee on Alcoholism. He will also be a member of the Aging, Government Employees, Labor, and Transportation committees.
New York residents have dealt with corruption in Albany for far too long, said DeStefano. I am confident that the fresh perspective I bring as a newly-elected assemblyman will be the catalyst for creating meaningful ethics legislation in Albany.
