“Today, after much debate, the New York State Assembly voted and passed the DREAM Act, a bill that would allow taxpayer-funded tuition assistance to illegal immigrants. For the law-abiding residents of New York, this is another irresponsible way to spend our tax dollars,” said DeStefano. “While I support making higher education more affordable, this bill targets the wrong demographic. Providing assistance to those who come into our country illegally is not an investment, it’s a waste of our money. This is a slap in the face to New York’s families.”
