DeStefano Joins Highway Workers for CHIPS Rally

Today, Assemblyman Joe DeStefano (R,C,I,Ref-Medford) joined New York highway employees to call on the governor to include necessary funding to repair damaged roads and highways throughout the state. The Consolidated Local Street and Highway Improvement Program (CHIPS) provide state funds to various areas across the state for roads, bridges and highways projects.

“Our roads, bridges and highways are a vital part of our state’s infrastructure, and without the necessary funding, we will lose our ability to access health and educational services,” said DeStefano. “Our conference has called on the governor to increase CHIPS funding by $150 million per year over the next five years. I encourage Gov. Cuomo to deliver this critical funding to ensure that our residents and tourists can access our roads and highways safely.”
