DeStefano Calls for Increase in Funding for Early Childhood Education

Yesterday, Assemblyman Joe DeStefano (R,C,I,Ref-Medford) attended a press conference in the New York State Capitol calling on legislative leaders to adopt the Assembly one-house proposals to increase funding for child care subsidies by $20 million. He is also calling for an increase of funding for new pre-K seats, transportation aid for pre-K students, increased reimbursement rates for preschool special education, and an increase of rates for all early intervention services.

“The well-being of our children should be held to the highest importance. By increasing our investment in our children, we are providing them with the resources and services to increase their chances of success in the future,” said DeStefano. “I am proud to stand— in a bipartisan manner— on behalf of our children. I urge our governor and legislative leaders to include this much-needed funding in the final budget.”
