Budget Remains a Partisan Process

A statement from Assemblyman Joe DeStefano (R,C,I,Ref-Medford)on the passage of the 2019-20 budget.

“As legislators, our top priority is— and always should be—to make New York a better place to live, but state Majority is only concerned about improving the lives of illegal immigrants and convicted felons. While our Minority conference managed to restore funding to the Joseph P. Dwyer veteran’s mental health program, a program that should have never been threatened in the first place, and created a permanent property tax cap to provide tax relief to the middle class, in the end, this budget as a whole will not improve New York state, its economy or the lives of residents that live here legally. Until we can create a budget transparent to all, our tax dollars will not be used appropriately or conservatively.”
