“It was disheartening to hear our fellow legislators call this proposal ‘an entitlement,’ but I am encouraged by the governor’s support on this meaningful initiative that would provide free college tuition to surviving dependent family members of NYS military personnel who have died while performing official military duties. The loss of a parent is a traumatic experience for anyone and this bill would ensure that these children would have the opportunity to continue their education. I urge the rest of the Legislature to join in this bipartisan support and see that this bill is brought to the floor for a vote.”
